My final destination on the daily trip to work,the company I work for is a 10 minute walk away from this Metro stop.The journey has taken 26 minutes from Snow Hill.
I was quite surprised to find that Wednesbury has a number of interesting attractions.
1.Sleipnir - This 18ft stainless steel statue represents the eight legged flying war horse of Woden.It makes an impressive sight over looking the Wednesbury metro stop.
2.Town Hall - Originally built in 1871 the Town Hall was remodelled and enlarged in 1913.On the Holyhead Road frontage are an impressive number of stain glassed windows depicting scenes of the local industry from the earlier days of Wednesbury.
3.Museum and Art Gallery - This Victorian museum’s frontage is adorned with the images of Sir Christopher Wren,Sir Joshua Reynolds,John Flaxman and Sir Isaac Newton.The gallery holds a collection of paintings and old toys.The museum was built in 1891.
4.Clock Tower - At the centre of town on the site of the market place is the Clock Tower.This was built in 1911 to commerrate the coronation of George V.It is built of red brick and sandstone.
5.Church of St Bartholomew - This impressive church stands proudly over looking the town.Built on the highest point it sports fifteen superb stained glass windows.
